Introducing the Office Minded Webinar Series
We are proud to announce a new monthly webinar series called the Office Minded Webinar Series. Each month our founder, Jennifer Buchholz will explore a new topic related to Microsoft 365 (formally Office 365). Jennifer will release an overview video talking about a specific topic, then host a live question and answer webinar diving deeper into the monthly topic.
“I’m excited to launch a new webinar series focused on Microsoft 365. So many businesses have a subscription to Microsoft 365 but don’t realize all the products and solutions that have access to,” explains Jennifer Buchholz. “Each month I’ll dive into a new topic, first introducing the topic in a quick overview video, then I’ll host a live question and answer webinar that anyone can join and ask any questions related to the topic. I really want to bring a taste of my training to everyone.”
For November the topic will focus on Microsoft Planner.
Microsoft Planner will be the first topic in the Office Minded Webinar Series.
Microsoft Planner is similar to popular apps, Asana, Slack, or Trello and is designed for task/ project management. In fact, most companies we work with have a specific project/task management solution and Microsoft Planner, which means they are paying more for the same basic solution.
Planner provides a hub for team members to create plans, organize and assign tasks to different users and to check updates on progress through dashboards. It also provides a centralized place where files can be shared and gives you visibility to the whole team. As a Microsoft 365 app, you can find Planner within your Office 365 home under your apps.
Why use Planner?
There are two main reasons why you should consider switching to Planner for task and project management: Microsoft integrations and cost.
Microsoft integrations
Planner natively integrates with all the other Office 365 applications and using a tool within the Microsoft ‘ecosystem’ is very efficient. Microsoft has created a suite of apps that all complement one another and work beautifully together. Using Planner means that you can easily integrate your tasks into Outlook, attach and view task documentation by linking to SharePoint, discuss a project within Teams while having you Plan open, hop onto a video call. Using another tool requires switching in and out of applications and reduces productivity and can cause annoyance when trying to integrate or link to another well-used application.
Cost
The other very simple reason to consider Microsoft Planner is cost. It’s included with all the business Microsoft 365 subscriptions, so if you’re using Microsoft 365 at work then it’s very likely you have access to Planner. Project or task management tools cost extra and add additional license costs to your company, so adopting Planner can cut costs. It is definitely worth reviewing to see how it compares to anything you are paying for.
