What’s New in Microsoft Teams - April 2021

At Excel & Flourish, we promise to stay on top of trends and new products to see if we can implement that into your current role or next training session. (Psst- that’s why it’s important to find the right trainer for you and your team!)

From Microsoft Teams to Microsoft 365, let’s look at some notable updates and new features came out this past month.

Dynamic View for Microsoft Teams

Microsoft showcased the “Dynamic View” mode that should make it much easier for users to enjoy video calls with presentations earlier this year at Microsoft Ignite. When you’re sitting in a Teams call with multiple participants and dynamic content (like screen sharing or videos), Dynamic View delivers a customizable experience.

In Dynamic View, the presentation content will usually take up the majority of the screen as standard, but it’s up to you to decide where you want to place the participants you can see too. You can pin key participants in your video meeting alongside the presentation, and make sure that you don’t lose track of what’s going on.

Share An E-Mail from Outlook to Teams

From Outlook or Outlook on the web, you can share emails to chats and channels in Teams. If you’re a Teams user, this feature will have been installed automatically, otherwise, you’ll first need to utilize the Share to Teams Outlook add-in. Teams Rooms on Android

From a more robust calendar experience, to video enhancing features in Teams Rooms (in personal mode), Microsoft is recognizing the fact that people are still using their phones more than ever and are continuing to make the mobile experience more user-friendly. Hybrid Updates for the Manufacturing Industry

Hybrid work is the new norm. Teams is empowering the frontline workforce with purpose-built solutions to enable them to succeed and be safe, like Microsoft’s partnership with RealWear for allowing heads-up and hands-free collaboration. Integrations like these can allow for virtual inspections and factory acceptance tests while utilizing Teams.

Approvals are also a critical component of how manufacturing frontline workers get their job done. To streamline workflows, new templates in Teams provide a repeatable structure for common approvals, like requesting overtime. And integrations with key partners, like Adobe Sign and DocuSign, allow for an electronic signature approval natively within the Approvals app for contracts and permits on the factory floor that require formal attestation.
