Trim Your Inbox Challenge Tip #1

Trim Your Inbox Challenge Tip #1 - Clear Visual Indicator of To-dos

Welcome to Day One of the Trim Your Inbox Challenge.

So, if you look in your inbox right now, what tells you what to do? Do you spend time scrolling to try and figure out what you need to do?

Knock it off.

Step one of our challenge is to have a clear visual indicator of your to-do items.

If you're an outlook that can be a flag. If you're in Gmail, that can be a star. There's a whole bunch of different ways that you can create that clear visual, but keep in mind, I don't recommend leaving your messages as unread because new messages that come in are also unread, and that doesn't give you the clear visual indicator you have to go back through and then sometimes mistakenly something might become marked as red and you mentally, that is unread. I know that a technique but it's not one that I'm going to recommend.

Whether you're using Outlook or Gmail, flags or stars are the original, clear visual indicators of something that you need to do.

So, step one for today is to go back through. And if you have a ton, I'm going to challenge you to go back no more than 30 days, in my mind, if it hasn't resurfaced after 30 days, you might not really need to do it.

To complete the challenge for the day, go ahead, and get your clear visual indicators of your to-dos. If you have problems doing it, don't hesitate to reach out. And we look forward to seeing you tomorrow for day two of the Trim your inbox Challenge!
