What’s New in Microsoft Teams - July 2021

One of the great things about Microsoft is that they are always listening, analyzing, and creating new technology and new features to help make everybody’s job a little easier. They’re constantly innovating and updating, which is why at Excel and Flourish, we like to take a moment each month to go over some highlights that might benefit your company or team. Let’s take a look at what’s new in Microsoft this month.

Roger That

Microsoft has finally done it- created adult, work-essential walkie talkies! This push-to-talk experience enables clear, instant, and secure voice communication over the cloud, turning employee- or company-owned iOS and Android smartphones and tablets into a walkie-talkie. Microsoft understands the digital age and just how many gadgets frontline workers need to carry at all times. Team’s Walkie Talkie reduces the number of devices they need to carry, also lowering costs for IT. Unlike analog devices, customers don’t have to worry about frequency static, crosstalk or eavesdropping from outsiders. Learn more about Team’s push to talk (PTT) feature and how to get started by visiting Microsoft’s resource here.

Getting your Shift Together

With Microsoft and Blue Yonder, frontline workers have a single view to streamline everyday schedules for higher worker engagement and productivity. Workers can now easily see and manage their schedules from Blue Yonder within Teams using the Shifts app and can easily switch to the Teams communication platform, amplifying connectivity on any device – from the frontline to the C-suite. Other Updates from July:

  • The Salesforce app is a new app in Microsoft this month! To help increase internal alignment and save time by no longer having to switch between applications, the Salesforce integration allows customers to access their Salesforce records in Teams channels, chat conversations, and meetings.

  • With apps in meetings, you can customize your Teams experience by integrating your apps directly into the way you work – before, during, and after a meeting. Check out how to Use apps in your meetings from Microsoft Teams mobile here.
